To ensure the integrity of data and due diligence activities, the Foundation has initiated the registration of the Catalogue Raisonné on the blockchain, the technology identified as the most suitable for this purpose due to its characteristics of immutability and transparency.
The initiative stems from a collaboration with OFFICINEBIT, developer of the online catalogue, which has chosen SwissLedger as the digital infrastructure to record information in an immutable and verifiable way over time. SwissLedger is the public blockchain promoted by the City of Lugano, traditionally used in the financial and document sectors: Fondazione Arnaldo Pomodoro is the first institution to adopt this platform in the field of the protection and enhancement of contemporary art and cultural heritage.
Blockchain technology helps overcome doubts regarding the validity of a digital resource inherently exposed to information volatility and to risks of data alteration or compromise—factors that have prompted careful consideration in terms of security, reliability, and long-term preservation.
