March 23 – June 1, 2024
Travessa Dona Paula 120, São Paulo, Brasile
Saturday 23 March the exhibition Edival Ramosa. New Totemic Construction, curated by André Pitol, opens at the Coleção Moraes-Barbosa in São Paulo. This is the first retrospective dedicated to the Afro-Brazilian artist and to the reconstruction of his trajectory and artistic production.
The exhibition focuses on the works and projects created in Italy in the period 1964-1974, when Edival Ramosa (1940 –2015) moved to Milan – stage of the constructive, kinetic and op neo-avant-gardes – working closely with Arnaldo Pomodoro, of whom he becomes a friend and collaborator. Alongside drawings and sculptures, the exhibition will also screen – for the first time in Brazil – the militant and experimental film Processo politico (1971), directed by Francesco Leonetti (1924-2017) with the supervision of Arnaldo Pomodoro, in which Ramosa participates as an actor. The film, preserved in the Archive of Arnaldo Pomodoro, was granted by the Fondazione Arnaldo Pomodoro.
