Gastone Novelli
Tre Onfali, 1967
polyester and resin, 225 × ∅ 60 cm, each one (3 elements)
The Tre Onfali from 1967 are one of Novelli's rare works as a sculptor, and demonstrate the equally broad freedom with which the artist approached the specific sculpture: colored glass and lead, painted and inlaid marble, and , in this case, resins. Artificial materials that create a plastic complex that is also non-canonical, three simple geometric solids with no other model than the curvature of the surfaces. Their smooth body becomes a support for the definition of linear, snappy, subtle signs, which contribute to giving the work an archaic, almost totemic flavour.
