April 1 – June 27, 2025
Cortesi Gallery, Via Morigi 8, 20123 Milano
Cortesi Gallery presents the exhibition Pietro Consagra. Colloquio diabolico, curated by Alberto Salvadori, in collaboration with Archivio Pietro Consagra.
The exhibition is part of the gallery's program dedicated to Italian artists who marked the evolution of the 20th century art system. The decision to present Consagra's work stems from a desire to explore his contribution in redefining modern sculpture, with particular attention to the “psychological” abstractionism and frontality of his work. As a counterpoint to the sculptures are exhibited a selection of bitumen, paintings on faesite, in which one can perceive, and in some cases even read, the dynamics of making of the Colloqui (made between 1952 and 1964), in that specific two-dimensionality that is fundamental to the reading of Pietro Consagra's works.
Among the works on display are Colloquio (1960) and Racconto del demonio n.2 (1963) on loan from the Collection of Fondazione Arnaldo Pomodoro.
