Alighiero Boetti
Senza titolo, 1978
collage and mixed media on paper, 62 × 95 cm
This collage is a tribute to Arnaldo Pomodoro, a private work which however falls within Boetti's major research. We see at work the taste of the collector of pre-existing images and signs, the organizer of different materials and also the recycler. Well-ordered in sequences of photographs, the collage shows us on the left side a series of black and white photographic portraits of contemporary artists, including obviously Arnaldo, placed between Warhol and Georgia O'Keeffee. The rest of the surface is dotted with the typical materials of Boetti's more graphic research: his photos, the reproduction of some well-known works, his tracings, in short his entire "cuisine of meaning" is represented here, as in a self-portrait through the work.
