Since the end of the 1950s Italo Antico has been working on sculpture, radically reducing the field of action to the dimension of the line. The metal line, or the bundle of lines, on a base, or free to interact with the environment, best expresses the entirely mental tension of the artist. “My sculpture is a journey of signs, it is an idea, it is a fragment: the steel I use is a sign of light between presence and absence…” says the artist. Almost reduced to the dimension of a sign solidified in space, the sculpture takes on a high dynamic value and becomes rhythm, drawing in the void, reflection of light. In fact, the lines are always angled, bent, like antennas or sensors extending outwards, and the shape, the fragment they outline, changes appearance depending on the movements of the eye that perceives it.
