Arnaldo Pomodoro e Beverly Pepper.

A story in images

On the occasion of the tribute to Arnaldo Pomodoro by the Festival delle arti di Todi and Todi Festival 2021, the Foundation's educational department sets up an edutainment area in the Sala dei Portici in the opposite Piazza del Popolo.

The space lends itself as a precious opportunity to explore the materials, techniques and experiences of the two sculptors born in the 1920s, a century in which they experienced the most important historical, political and economic events, characterized by revolutions, wars, totalitarianisms, up to the era of globalization, and of which they have offered us an absolutely personal, highly visionary artistic rendering, as protagonists and interpreters in the world of contemporary art at a national and international level. Living presences of the new millennium, still witnesses of the 21st century, Arnaldo at 95 years old and Beverly who passed away last year at 97 years old. Their works are points of reference, landmark territorial ones that strengthen the sense of belonging to the place for which they were designed and in which they were inserted.

The images and materials, accompanied by short quotes from the artists themselves or from artist friends, curators and critics, guide us in understanding the work carried out, in the artistic and design choices, with particular reference to their presence in the Umbrian territory.

To get further closer to the thoughts of the two artists and understand their cultural and social significance, here we propose workshop activities designed for a wide audience, from childhood to old age. An area where you can gain direct and personal experience of the creative processes and, through experimentation with different techniques, arrive at the creation of "a project for Umbria", just like the two sculptors did.
